HERE'S WHAT'S COMING TO THE VILLAGE OF PELHAM
The Village of Pelham is happy to announce a more efficient sanitation system that will improve how we pick up trash! This system will include an improved app, trucks, and toters that will increase efficiency, improve communications, and make trash collection easier for residents and safer for all!
-
The MyVOP App allows you to view the calendar, Learn what you need to know about sorting and recycling, and communicate with us
-
The new trucks will have a touchless lift system. This means more efficient pick-ups with no litter left behind.
-
The Village of Pelham is excited to offer all residents three new toters FREE! With there a high functionality, durability, and ergonomic design, the new toters will take the burden of trash collection away from you.

Additional Sanitation Reminders & Tips:
1. All residential refuse should be placed outside before 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. Commercial garbage and recycling collection must be inside a container and placed curbside between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. which is strictly enforced.
2. Please have a clear path to the Toters clear of items such as snow/ice, cars, sprinklers, bushes, and dogs.
- What is the Toter trash cart program?
-
The Village is improving the way we collect garbage! Through the Toter trash cart program, the Village will provide each residence and business with Village garbage collection service a Toter trash cart for their garbage collection service starting in December 2022. The new sanitation trucks coming in 2023 have a mechanical tipper arm on the back to pick up the Toter trash cart and empty it into the truck. The Toter trash carts are the property of the Village of Pelham, provided for use at the specific address.
- Why did the Village start the Toter trash cart program?
-
There are many reasons; the primary ones are:
This new program improves aesthetics at the curbside by giving a single look to the trash containers set out for collection
The trash carts have lids to keep the refuse contained within the cart and critters out.
The tipper on the Sanitation trucks to lift and empty the cart will relieve much of the physical stress on our employees
- When will the Toter trash cart program start?
-
It will start in December 2022. Only garbage and recycling in a Toter trash cart with the Pelham Village logo will be collected, with a few exceptions.
- What size are the Toter trash carts?
-
Residences will receive three (3) Toter trash carts
One 64-gallon Toter trash cart for garbage
One 64-gallon Toter trash cart for paper/cardboard recycling; and
One 32-gallon Toter trash cart for comingled recycling
Commercial businesses with trash collection services will receive One 96-gallon Toter trash cart.
- When will the new sanitation system take effect?
-
The new sanitation system will be in effect in early 2023. Exact dates will be announced closer to the new year through all Village wide communication channels.
- How many Toters will each property receive?
-
Each single-family property will receive three (3) color-coded Toters for garbage, paper/cardboard and co-mingled. Commercial establishments will receive one (1) 96-gallon Toter for garbage.
- What happens if our Toter breaks or gets damaged?
-
The new Toters are highly durable, but in the event of damage please reach out to Village Administration to obtain a new Toter. More details on how to do this to follow.
- Will my garbage day change?
-
No, level of service and schedules will remain the same. The pickup schedule can be accessed on our website or on our MYVOP app under the “Sanitation and Recycling” Tab.
- Will we still have backyard pickup?
-
