Overview

The Zoning Board of Appeals ("ZBA") hears and decides appeals from decisions by the Village's Building Inspector. The Building Inspector enforces the Zoning Ordinance (often called the "Code") and the ZBA is where those enforcement decisions may be appealed.

This information is provided in the ZBA application and can be provided as a separate document accessible from the ZBA page. Attached is a copy for reference.

Other functions of the ZBA include making interpretations of the provisions of the Code, authorizing special use permits, and granting permission for temporary uses.

The ZBA is comprised of five members for a five-year term. The ZBA must follow specific statutory requirements contained in the Village Code. The ZBA is only authorized to hear appeals from a decision made by the Building Department to issue permits and/or enforce zoning. Other functions of the ZBA include making interpretations of the provisions of the Code, authorizing special use permits, and granting permission for temporary uses.
