The Fire Department provides emergency responses to fire, medical emergencies, and hazardous conditions within the Village of Pelham and its vicinity. The protection of life and property is accomplished by the rapid response of our career staff and by creating and maintaining fire safety within the community through fire prevention strategies, pre-plans, and inspections.
The Fire Department responds to emergencies with one engine and one ladder truck; and is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a minimum of 3 on-duty career firefighters including one Lieutenant per shift. All career personnel are New York State Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
The average response time for the Fire Department to get to an emergency is 3 minutes. This excellent response time has helped the Village Fire Department keep our community's potential life and property losses to a minimum. Recently, ISO reported that Pelham's Public Protection Classification has been improved from a Rating of 4 to a Rating of 3.
